Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in? If you’ve experienced abandonment in your life before you will know how far the wounds of being unwanted and unworthy then you will be aware of how feeling unwanted has changed a person you are and the way you interact with others. The feeling of being unwanted or unloved can manifest itself physically , emotionally and even spiritually leaving a big hole in our lives. being ignored can feel worse making you feel as if you don’t matter at all.
Healing enables people to live again normally. In today’s gospel a leper desperately needs healing and courageously approached, kneeled down and begged Jesus. Only God can heal the leper. Like the leper in the gospel, we come before Jesus Christ on bended-knee, in total surrender and ask Him for healing. Maybe we not have leprosy disease however we suffer also on a different aspect – bad decisions, poor health and our broken relationship to others. We may never encounter lepers however there are other forms of leprosy today that can destroy our hope and isolate from the society . And a reason we need to be healed. We cry out and beg for the healing touch of Jesus can heal us. All we need to do is to courageously approach Him, talk to Him, beg His mercy and allow ourselves to feel the unconditional love from Him.
We are the modern leper likewise we took the initiative in approaching Jesus and asking for healing. We all need God’s healing grace. Our encounter with Jesus to heal us can change our lives. It was an encounter and a touch of love. All of us should humbly enough to ask God’s mercy. Our Lord is always reaching our hand to touch us with love and embrace us in healing, forgiveness and grace. God is willing, are you?
