They are special occasions for experiencing God’s saving presence. That’s what theologians mean when they say that sacraments are at the same time signs and instruments of God’s grace.

Baptism

baptismThe Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Original or Certified True Copy of Birth Certificate of the person to be baptized. 
  • Certificate of No Record (for candidates 3 years old and above).
    • Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish
    • Ina ng Awa Parish
    • Mary, Mother of God Parish
  • Original and photocopies of Marriage Contract of parents (photocopy). *Promissory note if not married.
  • Baptismal Form (provided by the Parish Office)
  • Candidates for Baptism (children) must be baptized in the parish where the parents reside.
  • If the parents reside on another Diocese, please secure a permit from your parish priest to have the child be baptized outside of their parish.
  • For unwed mothers, the child will be baptized on the parish where the mother resides.
  • Sponsors must be 18 years old and above (maximum number of sponsors must be 5 pairs only – 10 persons).

Schedule:

  • Only the parents of the child will be allowed to register, set the appointment and schedule the Baptism.
  • Baptism must be registered two (2) weeks before the date of intended Baptism. No rescheduling will be allowed.
  • Saturdays at 11:00 AM

Seminar:

  • Seminars for Baptism are held every 9:00 AM on Sundays at the St. Peregrine Parish Hall.
  • Parents and 2 sponsors must attend the seminar. Sponsors must be Catholic and 18 years old and above.
  • Please come on time. Latecomers will forfeit their schedule for Baptism.

 

Guidelines During Baptism

  • Proper Attire. This must be in accordance with the church’s policies.
  • Mobile Phones. Cellphones must be on Silent mode. It is recommended that they be turned OFF during the ceremony.
  • Sitting Arrangement. Mother and baby, Father, Sponsors.
  • Voice. Please make your voice audible or loud enough for the officiating priest to hear.
  • Baptismal Dress/ Veil. Baptismal dress and veil must be colored WHITE or OFF-WHITE only.
  • Picture Taking. Please follow the proper and appropriate time to take pictures and do not get in the way of the priest.
  • Other Children. If other children must be taken with you, they must be attended to at all times and kept quiet.

Baptismal Kit

  • 1 big candle for the father. This must be lit through the Paschal Candle ONLY.
  • Small candles for the sponsors who attended the orientation. These candles must ONLY be lit through the father’s candle.
  • ID. The ID must be attached to the baby’s dress and must be visible to the officiating priest.
  • Donation Envelope. Please distribute these envelopes to the sponsors for their donations to our church.

NO SEMINAR, NO BAPTISM

Confession

 

penanceThe Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God’s unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others.

Five Steps For a Good Confession

  1. Examine your conscience.
  2. Be sincerely sorry for your sins.
  3. Confess your sins to a priest.
  4. Resolve to amend your life.
  5. After your confession, do the penance the priest assigns.

 

 

Eucharist

 

eucharistCatholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ’s Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

Confirmation

confirmationConfirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Matrimony

holy-matrimonyThe Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God’s values.

Requirements:

  1. Marriage License
  2. CENOMAR (PSA issued).
  3. Birth Certificates of both parties.
  4. Baptismal Certificates (for marriage purposes) of both parties.
  5. Confirmation Certificates (for marriage purposes) of both parties.
  6. Interview  (after submission of 1-4)
  7. Marriage Banns
  8. Pre-Cana Seminar

Holy Orders
