April 29, 2017 ~ Cashmare Magboo/ St. Peregrine Laziosi Diocesan Shrine. “Many are called but only few are chosen” the saying goes, and it truly happened in my endeavor as a volunteer catechist. Starting with almost 200 catechists, only 123 have successfully completed the 2-year basic catechetical formation held at the Evangelization Center of the Diocese of Parañaque. Three of the new catechists were from St. Peregrine Parish, namely, Normelita Dalumpines, Sharell De Guzman and Cashmare Magboo.
The send off ceremony was held April 28, 2017 at the Parish of the Immaculate Conception in Moonwalk Village, Las Piñas. The concelebrated mass was presided over by His Most Rev. Bishop Jesse E. Mercado, DD – Bishop of Parañaque. In his homily, he emphasized the 3 important lessons catechists must learn: To kneel down, to sit-down and to walk. To kneel down means to be silent in prayer, to sit-down means to listen and to walk means to evangelize. Those words fired-up the desire of my heart to make Jesus known by many.
As he gave his final blessing, one thing kept playing in my mind; as a Commissioned catechist, it is my responsibility to rekindle the love and to awaken one’s faith in Him. By the grace and guidance of our almighty God together with the continous support of our Parish administrator, Rev. Fr. Leonardo Ma. Guiang Jr. OSM, and with the help of my fellow catechists, I can confidently say that we can do it, all for the greater glory of His name.
