Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. Epiphany means manifestation. What the Church celebrates today is the manifestation of our Lord to the whole world. He is revealed to the Magi who have come from the East to adore Him. These wise men expected that Jerusalem would rejoice upon the birth of their King but it was not the attitude of the city. Herod’s hatred turned into murder later on because of his greed of power. But the Lord, after revealing himself to his own people Israel, chose to reveal himself to the whole world. Salvation in Christ is not only for the Jews but also for all people who seek him and believe in him.
Like the Magi, all of us are guided by signs and Divine Providence to encounter God so that we may be able to worship him in spirit and in truth. We should open our eyes and more importantly, our hearts to see God’s Light, the Lord who became man like us. We should imitate the persistence of the Magi to find the infant King to adore him. In our journey towards holiness, let us persevere in prayers and good works so that we can always be enlightened by the Lord who is, himself, our light and our life. We must not be like Herod who did not recognize the Messiah because of fear that his authority and prestige will be taken away from him.
We can behold our Blessed Mother who always trusts God, the wonder worker. Let her be our guiding star leading us to her Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let us also entrust ourselves to the prayers of St. Joseph who is silently doing his role as protector and guardian of the Holy Family. May the manifestation of the Lord in every moment of our lives be a joyful encounter and a saving event where Christ is always adored and glorified.

THE STAR THAT LEADS US HOME
As I reflect on the story of the Magi, I see myself in their journey – searching, sometimes uncertain, yet longing for something greater than what the world offers. The Magi left behind their comfort and security to follow a star. That star reminds me that God always provides guidance, even if it’s just enough light for the next step. I don’t need to see the whole path; I just need to trust the One who leads me. Like the Magi, I am called to keep moving forward, even when the journey feels long or confusing.
The Magi traveled far, endured discomfort, and faced uncertainty – all to honor Jesus. Their journey teaches me that giving to God often requires effort and sacrifice. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. The star was a sign of hope and direction, leading them to Jesus. It didn’t take them straight to the manger – it led them on a journey that required trust, patience, and perseverance. In the same way, God’s guidance in my life often comes step by step, not all at once.
When the Magi finally found Jesus, they didn’t just admire Him – they worshiped Him and offered their best gifts. This makes me ask: What gift can I offer today? Maybe it’s my time in prayer, my patience with others, or my willingness to forgive. These are my “gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Epiphany reminds me that God’s love and light shine for all people. I am invited not only to seek Christ but also to reflect His light for others. My gifts, however small, can reflect that light in the world – through kindness, forgiveness, and love. Today, I pray for the courage to follow the star, for the grace to give generously, not out of obligation, but out of deep gratitude for the greatest gift of all: Jesus Himself. May the star always lead me home to Him.
