On September 27, 2025, the St. Peregrine Laziosi Parish and Diocesan Shrine joyfully celebrated the Araw ng mga Layko, a special occasion that honored the dedication and service of lay workers and members of various ministries, commissions, and parish communities.
The event began with a solemn prayer and opening remarks from our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bryan Ma. Eala, OSM, who warmly welcomed everyone and set the tone for a day of reflection and fellowship. He emphasized that as we grow in faith, we also grow in our capacity to serve and mature in our service.
One of the most impactful moments of the celebration was the inspirational talk delivered by Bro. Ed O. Villacorte, who shared profound insights on the basic truths of servanthood. He challenged the attendees with three thought- provoking questions: Are you serving God? Are you a servant of God? What makes you a servant? His message emphasized that true servanthood is not about doing many things for God but about allowing God to work within us. He reminded everyone that God is more interested in the transformation He brings in us than in the actions we perform. To serve others is to extend God’s goodness, and that requires change. Bro. Ed concluded his talk by affirming that serving God is a calling – one that begins with surrender and obedience. He added that it is God’s will that through service, we may be transformed into His image, and that in the end, our service will be determined not by what we have done, but by what we have become.
The program also included the presentation of the St. Peregrine Laziosi Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) structure, which serves as the highest consultative and pastoral body in the parish. The PPC works closely with the Parish Priest to develop, implement, and evaluate pastoral programs and activities that support the spiritual growth of the community.
A special recognition was given to the Nacario family for their inspiring spiritual journey, as they were honored to represent our parish at the Diocese of Parañaque in the “Jubilee of Families.” To add a touch of fun and excitement, a Bingo Socials was held, where ten lucky lay workers won prizes, bringing joy and laughter to the gathering.
The celebration concluded with a Holy Mass, uniting everyone in prayer and thanksgiving, and reaffirming the commitment of lay workers to serve with faith, humility, and love.
Araw ng Layko 2025 was a meaningful celebration that highlighted the importance of lay service in the Church and reminded everyone of the beauty of being called to serve. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated and remain to be the hands and feet of Christ in our parish community.
