The Order of Friar Servants of Mary – St. Peregrine Philippine Vicariate joyfully commenced the Jubilee Year Tercentenary of the Canonization of St. Peregrine Laziosi with a solemn Inaugural Mass and Opening of the Jubilee Door on May 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

The sacred celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Ernesto Salgado, D.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Nueva Segovia, with Most Rev. Ramon C. Arguelles, D.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Lipa, as concelebrating bishop, along with clergy from the vicariate and neighboring parishes.

The liturgy gathered the faithful in a spirit of deep devotion and thanksgiving as the Church commemorates the 300th anniversary of the canonization of St. Peregrine Laziosi, widely known as the patron saint of individuals suffering from cancer, AIDS, and other life-threatening illnesses. The faithful came in great numbers, offering prayers for healing, strength, and hope through the intercession of the beloved saint.

A highlight of the celebration was the ceremonial opening of the Jubilee Door, symbolizing the beginning of a special year of grace, mercy, and spiritual renewal. As pilgrims entered through the Holy Door, they were invited to deepen their faith and receive the spiritual blessings associated with the Jubilee.

In his homily, Bishop Ernesto reminded the faithful of the power and importance of prayer – to pray persistently, to ask in the name of Jesus, to approach God with adoration for His goodness, and to offer prayers of thanksgiving for His countless blessings. This reflection encouraged everyone to strengthen our relationship with God through sincere and faithful prayer.

The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment among the faithful to live out the virtues exemplified by St. Peregrine – patience, perseverance, and unwavering trust in God.

The Jubilee Year will feature various spiritual activities, pilgrimages, and celebrations, inviting devotees to journey together in prayer and reflection as the Church honors this milestone in the life of St. Peregrine Laziosi.

“Through the intercession of St. Peregrine, may all who seek healing find comfort, hope, and renewed faith.”
