On this blessed day as the Church commemorates the Solemnity of Our Lady of Sorrows, the faithful of St. Peregrine Laziosi Parish and Diocesan Shrine gathered in prayerful reflection through the Via Matris (Way of the Sorrowful Mother), a devotion that invites us to journey with the Blessed Virgin Mary as she faithfully endured the seven sorrows of her life.

Through each station, we contemplated Mary’s unwavering trust in God amid suffering: from the prophecy of Simeon to the burial of her beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Her sorrows remind us that faith does not remove life’s trials, but it gives us the strength to persevere with hope and love.

The Via Matris offered parishioners an opportunity to unite their own pains, struggles, and intentions with those of our Sorrowful Mother, seeking her maternal intercession and guidance. As we reflected on Mary’s compassion and steadfastness, we were inspired to carry our crosses with courage and to remain faithful to God’s will.

May Our Lady of Sorrows continue to accompany all who suffer, comfort those who mourn, and lead every heart closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.
