On Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026, the faithful gathered early in the morning for the 8:00AM Blessing of Palms, marking the solemn and joyful beginning of Holy Week. The celebration commenced in front of SM Muntinlupa, where parishioners came together holding their palm branches, ready to recall Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
The blessing of palms was a powerful and reverent moment, reminding everyone that Jesus is welcomed not only with words of praise, but with hearts willing to follow Him to the cross. After the blessing, the community participated in a procession, walking together in prayer – an outward expression of faith and unity, symbolizing our journey with Christ from glory to sacrifice.
The procession led the faithful to the church for the Holy Mass, presided over by our parish priest, Rev. Fr. Bryan Ma. Eala, OSM. In his homily, Fr. Bryan reflected on the meaning of Palm Sunday – how the same crowd that joyfully shouted “Hosanna!” would later cry “Crucify Him.” Fr. Bryan reflected deeply on the meaning of the palms we held and shared three powerful truths they remind us of. First, the palms reveal human fickleness – how quickly hearts can shift from praise to rejection. Second, they place us within the Passion narrative, inviting each of us to recognize our role in the suffering of Christ. Lastly, the palms remind us of Christ’s enduring love, a love that remains faithful despite betrayal, weakness, and sin.
Fr. Bryan further invited everyone to wholeheartedly celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week, not merely as a remembrance of sin or failure, but as a journey that assures each one of us of Easter – the promise that suffering is never the end and that God’s love triumphs in the Resurrection.
The celebration served as a profound reminder that Holy Week is a call to deeper prayer, repentance, and reflection. As we enter the most sacred days of our faith, the Palm Sunday celebration encouraged the community to walk closely with Christ – embracing His passion, death, and ultimately, His resurrection.
